Family

I love my sister. She is a whole lot of things I am not and wish I could be and she isn’t a whole load of things that I am and wish I wasn’t. Having said that, one of the best things about our sisterhood is that we are different (though in reference to the last post, I will never understand how she steadfastly ignores the ShakeAway on her doorstep)

Here’s to Mrs Smith and rainy Reading days.

A ShakeAway a day makes….

July 16, 2009 at 8:36 am (Uncategorized)

Fantastic of Fat-tastic?!

Fantastic of Fat-tastic?!

I am in dubious awe of this blog. It puts me in a quandary for a variety of reasons:

1. ShakeAways are yum and there are so many different flavours to try  BUT ShakeAways are expensive and there are so many better things to be doing with your money for 150 days

2. ShakeAways are yum and there are so many different flavours to try BUT ShakeAways cannot be fully appreciated without sampling difference mixtures and toppings, surely? Is anyone good enough at maths to work out how many different permutations there are if there’s 150 flavours, 15 toppings and you can easily have 2 flavours and a topping.

3. ShakeAways are yum BUT how are they going to sample 150 in 150 days…. surely they have jobs? They must do to pay for their habit right?!

So, in conclusion a ShakeAway a day makes ….me feel slightly nauseous! But that doesn’t mean I won’t be following them.

Cassette tape art

July 14, 2009 at 11:40 am (Uncategorized)

These are pretty cool. Art made using cassette tapes and film reels. I have unashamedly stolen this from @LDN ’s twitter feed.

You talkin to me?

Space to think

So, boats are fun even in torrential rain. I just want to be back on it. There’s something about canal boats that the moment you step onto it and the engine chugs into life, you can’t help but relax.

Simply messing about in boats

July 5, 2009 at 11:29 pm (Uncategorized)

`This has been a wonderful day!’ said he, as the Rat shoved off and took to the sculls again. `Do you know, I`ve never been in a boat before in all my life.’

`What?’ cried the Rat, open-mouthed: `Never been in a — you never — well I — what have you been doing, then?’

`Is it so nice as all that?’ asked the Mole shyly, though he was quite prepared to believe it as he leant back in his seat and surveyed the cushions, the oars, the rowlocks, and all the fascinating fittings, and felt the boat sway lightly under him.

`Nice? It’s the only thing,’ said the Water Rat solemnly, as he leant forward for his stroke. `Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing — absolute nothing — half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Simply messing,’ he went on dreamily: `messing — about — in — boats; messing — – ‘

And that, albeit in a canal boat, is what I intend to do for the next day.  Breathe, and relax…
