Well, that was in interesting evening. I had failed to understand that there would be a dress code of thick-rimmed-but-trendy glasses and an I’m-not-trying-but-I-am-really style. It was fun, but there were so many people there that we couldn’t get into, or couldn’t hear the announcements for the organised games.

Note to organisers: get a bigger place. It’s a shame that everyone was expected to understand what was going on, but we had a laugh watching thumb wrestling and people watching. We also played the grid game “letter box” which was led to the comment “I was going to write Ovarian cancer but I thought it was too harsh”. Nice.

To play this game, draw a 6×6 grid. Everyone chooses a category like “food” or “places” or “artists” until the left hand column is full. Then, shut your eyes and point at a letter on something. You then have to write a word from each category beginning with that letter in the relevant box. First to finish shouts SCHTOP! Then, it’s 2 points for an answer no-one else got and 1 for other answers. If the word is deemed not to be within the category then you get no points.
