Travel, Music and….Disaster?
I’m SO predictable.
The more I actually have something to blog about, the less likely I am to do so. Give me a night shift though and it’s ginger-land update time.
Still, blogs are are partially about getting into the head of the person writing. So think of it as part of the experience.
Which brings me to news from the last month and a bit.
I’ve went to France with my parents, which was fun and hot and consisted of a pleasant combination of swimming, seeing crazy mountain-top Cathar strongholds and eating food on the basis that we didn’t know what it was. I highly recommend the last trick. I got to try tilapia and cuttlefish, both of which fall firmly into the YUM category.
I have also managed to do the London/Brighton journey by 3 different modes of transport in the space of a week! I was lucky enough to be able to help out with the Rising Styes hip-hop festival. The graffiti artists and sculptors where ridiculously talented and the organisers were lovely. Mare 139 and Sri are particularly worth checking out. The final Block Party (aka 1 day festival on the seafront) was great, but I was very very greatful for a lift back at the end … especially as the crazy fool in me had agreed to do the London to Brighton bike ride with Rach the next day! It was great to see the places that I had spent the previous week flying by on a train. Kind of like zooming in on google maps, only more personal.
and finally: Disaster!!
No, it’s ok, it’s not real. I visited to work’s disaster recovery area. We have to practice running the BBC channels from here just in case something happens. It’s very surreal as one side of the office block is branded as Holby City, and there are various bits of Eastenders kicking around. So, if London breaks I’ll be hot footing it to a small piece of television dark-ages while you lot go visit your parents or something.
On a different note. Isn’t it annoying when a bad crowd spoils a gig? Hrmph.
