I saw a Sign
I’ve just embarked on two months of training at Red Bee Media.
My first month is in the Signing Studio, which is where the BBC morning and Lunchtime news are signed live and also where BBC, UKTV, C5, C4 and National Geographic signed programmes are made.
I’m trying to learn some basic sign language very quickly. So far I can say who I am, “thanks”, “sorry” (very important when training, and “ready?” as well as a random selection of other words. I’ve noticed just how intuitive it is and how much expression is needed in the face. A learning experience indeed. For those who are still baffled by what I actually do, here are two photos I took on my phone:

Dub-ious
So then, Mad Professor. I think his “Mad”ness may stem mainly from the fact that he appeared to be drunk. The bass was painfully loud and he didn’t seem to exhibit any skill at all in mixing. Unless I missed something.
Shlomo on the otherhand, well what can I say? Class as always.
The Rules of Modern Policing & Mad Professors
I often wish I could be a fly on the wall in the workplace of some of my friends. It’s odd to imagine people you hang out with being in offices, courts, factories or schools.
However, in a reverse turn of events I have the pleasure of bringing you a work colleague in their out-of-hours capacity. Darren LeWarne was my lovely team leader when I was a BBC Librarian and is the guitarist for Indie Rock band Telegraphs.
Here’s the video to their new single “The Rules of Modern Policing”, which you can buy now on iTunes for a mere 79p.

Later today I’m off to see more beatboxing fantasticness at Boxcon08 and at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, where Shlomo and Mad Professor will be performing.
This Friday (25th) I’ll be hot footing it to the prettiest music venue in London, Bush Hall, to see the happy-indie-pop Steve Bland Assembly. You should too.
All hail Sir Colin Murray, friend of the ginger
As if I didn’t already rant enough about Colin Murray’s brilliant radio 1 show, he has now gained an imaginary knighthood from me. The reason? Last night’s Midweek Mobile Disco (1 hour of music on a theme) was entitled: All Hail The Ginger. Click hereand listen to the show for Weds 2nd April
