Things I like
Recently on my real life and online travels I have found some things that I like and that I think you may enjoy too. The first item deserves a decent write up, the others I shall leave you to click on and discover for yourself. Only the best for you…
I went to one of the Music Through Unconventional Means concerts at the Southbank Centre. Shlomois a Beatboxer who is part of Foreign Beggarsand has created the world’s first beatboxing choir – the vocal orchestra. He is currently an artist in residence at the Southbank Centre and does various unexpected collaborative concerts. DJ Yoda is a Video Scratch-DJ. It was an amazing concert, if one of the more obvious collaborations. I can’t explain it adequately here but ask me about it and I will wax lyrical. The next concert in the series is with Jazz group Polar Bear.Talking of which, I just heard this spoken word artist on Colin Murray’s excellent show
- Polar Bear [Listen]
Check out the track Jessica here. It’s cute.”Let me tell you about Jessica Brown..”Stick it out until the end. It’s not as saccharine as it originally seems
- Ping Pong [Taste]
Ordering by “I have no idea what that is” (because they hadn’t given us the menu). Lots of fun.
- Shelf & Ella Doran [Look & Shop]A road off brick lane with shops of delights. Here are two.
and
Paramore & Kate Rusby & Hot Chip[Listen] I’m late to the Paramore party (Pop/Rock/Emo)but hey, who cares? Listen to “Misery Business” and you’ll realise you’ve heard them. Whole albums are streamed on their siteKate Rusby is a husky voiced folk with a Yorkshire twang. Listen here
I’ve discovered that I likeHot Chip’s track “Wrestlers”. It is good. Listen here.
Shiny, Sparkly and Glowing things.
These are a few of my favouritethings:
- The fluffy soft bit inside Carhartt hoodies
- Hearing a song in a club/pub that makes me shout “oh yeah!”
- Understanding something really important for the first time.
- Re-understanding something important that I had forgotten.
- Childish hairclips
- Late night random conversations when you don’t have to get up.
- Sparkly scarves and eyeshadow
- Seeing the streetlights turn off ahead of me as I walk down the road (just like Harry potter)
- Shiny technology
- The mist over the Thames so thick that you can’t see the other side. Where’d’ London go?
- Films I know far too well
- Marshmallows.
