Interesting
Right. Now I have a thing about “Christian Rock” and Christians who like music because it is Christian without checking that it is good first. However, I do understand where some people are coming from when they say that the lyrical content of some music is unhelpful. I have been told in the past that the incessant beat of rock music is remeniscent of pagan ritualism, though most people wouldn’t go that far. If you agree with that then I suggest you listen to Gustav Holst’s “The Planets Suite” and skip to Mars. Also, note the behaviour of some composers in their private life. Not much metter than our beloved Pete or Brittney in some cases.
Anyway, the issue works both ways. Some people will also write off perfectly good music because it is made by Christians and is about God. It’s ok to make songs about political and social and love-related views, even other religions sometime (more edgy) but sing about solid bible based evangelistic Christianity and you will be accused of brainwashing/bible bashing or just being plain “uncool”.
The Guardian has written some damning articles about Christianity and christian institutions, but (and here I come to the point of this post) they do appear to give a balanced view in that they will shout from both sides of the divide. I have been sent this article which I think is fair and even handed. I have to admit, I don’t know much about Cold War Kids, I don’t even know if they are good., but the points still stand. Have a read, then let me know what you think. Either way I’d be interested to know what your opinions are.
Just Green
They have transformed Trafalgar Square into the London Village Green for two days. It’s weird, but also kind of cool.
I went to see it and also Anthony Gormley’s statues around the south bank. Check out my Flickr for more…
Green Eyed Monster
The people I went to ATP with got to go again last weekend. I’m very jealous as it sounds like they had a lot of fun.
Amongst other things, they did a parody of a Low Video.

Book From Boxes
Just heard a brilliant lyric on Maximo Park’s new single
“Night falls, and towns become circuit boards”
That is all. More and longer ramblings soon.
It’s just not pink.
I went down to Reading on Friday for a weekend of Bridesmaid blitzing. My fellow maid and I co-vetoed frills and pink, not that Sarah was likely to chose that but better safe than sorry. We tried on a fair few dresses and had a good giggle in the process (why are all wedding shops in random estates and old women’s bedrooms?!!) The end result was rather nice, though whether we’ll fit into our dresses after the well deserved curry at the end of the day is another matter.
In addition, we decided that Natasha Beddingfield’s new single would be the most amusing piece of music to walk out of the church to. Worth it to see people’s faces.
Sarah has now been signed up to face book. She’s already sucked in. Muhaha.
